Last updated: 2 September 2026. How the ViewAssist iPhone app and this website treat information.

Who we are

ViewAssist is a UK iPhone app for capturing house viewings. It is published by Andrew Stewart. Contact: hello@viewassist.uk.

What the app does

You paste a property listing link, save the house, take photos and notes on a viewing, flag issues, shortlist properties, and export a PDF report. There is no required user account today. Data you capture lives on your iPhone unless you choose to share a report.

Information stored on your device

The app stores, on the device:

• Listing details you look up (address, price, beds and similar fields when the listing provides them)
• Photos you take or choose
• Notes, including text created from voice input
• Flags, checklist ticks, shortlist / Yes-No-Maybe choices
• Area Insights results already fetched for a postcode (cached so we do not ask again immediately)

We do not operate a ViewAssist cloud login. If Apple iCloud backup is on, your phone backup may include app data — that is Apple’s backup, not a ViewAssist server.

Information that leaves the phone

Only when needed for a feature you used:

• Listing websites — if you paste or share a Rightmove, Zoopla or OnTheMarket link, the app loads that page to read the listing you asked for.
• Postcode and location lookups — public UK services such as postcodes.io may be used to understand the postcode.
• Crime data — police.uk open data for the area around a postcode, when you open Area Insights.
• Map / nearby places — OpenStreetMap-based search and, where configured, Google Maps/Places to show schools, stations or hospitals near the property. We aim to request this once per postcode and reuse the result.
• Speech to text — if you use Voice notes, recognition runs through Apple’s speech services on the device / Apple’s systems, not a ViewAssist server.
• PDF share — if you tap Export PDF, you choose where that file goes (Mail, Files, and so on).

We do not sell your information. We do not use your viewings to advertise other people’s products.

This website

viewassist.uk is a static site. It does not require an account. If you email hello@viewassist.uk from the waitlist button, that message is ordinary email. We will use it only to tell you when the app is on the App Store, or to answer support. We do not add tracking pixels or advertising cookies on these pages.

Children

ViewAssist is for adults buying or renting property. It is not directed at children.

Your choices

• Delete a property or viewing inside the app when that control is available.
• Delete the app to remove local data on that iPhone.
• Email hello@viewassist.uk if you want help understanding what is stored.

Under UK GDPR you may ask what personal data we hold about you via email. Today that is typically only emails you sent us. Viewing photos and notes stay on your device unless you shared them.

App Store and TestFlight

Apple collects whatever Apple states in its own privacy information when you download via TestFlight or the App Store. That is Apple’s processing, not ours.

Changes

If the app starts using an account, a paid plan, or extra live data services, this page will be updated and the date above will change.
